During lock-down we decided to make the most of the empty building and worked on improving our college building for students. We installed a new wi-fi system so we could have fast wifi in each classroom enabling students to use their laptops in lessons. This was meant to be a straight forward job, but because of our thick fire walls, the company had to go up into the attic and drop down boosters into each classroom. Luckily the wifi worked perfectly for our first set of online exams!

We developed a new manicure and pedicure treatment room with 2 nail stations and 2 pedicure chairs to enable social distancing with added space and ventilation. Our clients have been very complementary about the new room and our staff love working in it.

We also made some changes to the offices to make them COVID secure, changing the work desks and maximising on ventilation. We made some improvements to our reception area by adding a new door to help sound-proof the beauty rooms. We added additional hand washing stations and went crazy purchasing PPE! We use UVC machines to kill all micro-organisms so we can be confident that along with stringent cleaning processes, we are as safe as possible.

Our theory room had a makeover with fresh paint, new lighting and re-arranging the desks so students can sit a safe distance apart. We also re-arranged the break rooms to allow for social distancing. The whole college had a deep clean ready for our Level 2 students to return to college in August.

We love our premises and enjoy a quiet and peaceful location by the River Windrush. Our classrooms are large and spacious which is lucky now that we are maintaining social distancing rules. The staff have all completed risk assessments and continually update processes in line with the government guidance.
