We have been super busy since the beginning of the year here at the college and our OICB Student Salon.  Students have been working hard again leading up to their CIBTAC Body Massage exams at the end of March.  We welcomed Jane Ruffell from CIBTAC for our exams on March 26th. Her feedback from the exams was absolutely exceptional and we are all very proud of our CIBTAC students.

The students, along with Heidi, our School Director and Shay Lewis, our tutor, enjoyed a trip to Thermae Bath Spa the day after their exams which was a much deserved relaxing day out.  The students enjoyed a careers talk from the marketing team at the Thermae Bath Spa which they found very informative before enjoying two hours using the spa facilities before lunch and shopping in the beautiful city of Bath.

We were very happy to welcome our very own OICB graduate Gemma Jackson back to give a careers presentation from Ragdale Hall to our students and to trade-test those looking for places on work experience. Gemma trained at OICB over 20 years ago and has enjoyed a fantastic career at Ragdale Hall since she graduated. We have always arranged work experience in salons and spas, and after Gemma’s work experience there, she fell for the place and has never looked back. Gemma is shining example of an OICB graduate who inspires our new graduates to be successful and follow their dreams.

Our full time CIBTAC and CIDESCO students are currently on two weeks work experience before they have a week break at Easter before they return to college.  We are very much looking forward to hearing about their different experiences and placements including Young London in Notting Hill, The Landmark in London, Qutis in Thame, Nuffield Health in Oxford, Ragdale Hall, Myoka Hotel in Malta, Mallory Court in Warwickshire and Gleneagles in Scotland.

We would also like to congratulate our Level 3 Apprentice Imogen Hill for receiving a ‘Highly Commended Finalist’ in the ‘Special Recognition Award’ at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards held at The Jurys Inn in Oxford.  Heidi and Sarah enjoyed attending the awards ceremony with other apprenticeship providers and employers and were totally amazed by the young talent up for nominations. We are very proud of Imogen, she has overcome so many challenges during her apprenticeship and still maintains an exceptional commitment to her job in The Skincare Clinic and her learning.

We are still interviewing for places for September so please come along to one of our Open Day events.  Dates are on our Events page or alternatively please email the office on info@oicb.co.uk to book a slot for a private tour and a one on one chat with a member of our team. Our staff have a wealth of experience of the beauty industry and careers and training are all willing to help our students make the right career choices.
