It is hard to believe that this teaching year has passed by so quickly. We wave good bye to a group of 12 CIDESCO/CIBTAC Full-time students and our 15 NVQ Part-time students, all about to embark on exciting new careers ahead. We are thrilled to announce a 100% pass rate for all these students, well done!

Student Awards

On Friday 27th June we all celebrated our 24th Graduation Awards Ceremony at the Witney Lakes Golf and Leisure Club. A glittering occasion highlighted by the beautifully coiffured and gowned students showing off the latest designs in glamour wear to celebrate an end to their successful beauty therapy course and the start of a new career in the beauty therapy industry.

In  celebration of their hard work, dedication to their courses and in recognition for achieving the highest awards in the world of beauty therapy these new graduates are ready to begin their journey into a career in the salon and spa industry.  This awards ceremony gave all students the opportunity to be presented with their certificates by the College Principal in front of their friends and family who came to enjoy the evening. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all. After the champagne reception, 3 course meal and photos, guests  listened to the awards ceremony, all nervous and excited to see if their hard work and dedication had been recognised by winning one of the prestigious college awards.

CIDESCO Student of the Year Award 2014

The ‘CIDESCO Student of the Year Award 2014’ was awarded to Ellie Coad from Sussex, who shouldn’t have been at all surprised to learn she had been unanimously elected by her tutors for this prestigious award.  Prizes were given in recognition for her outstanding qualities both inside the classroom and in the Student Salon where Ellie used her skills to represent her class with diplomacy and fairness.  She reached her full potential through hard work and dedication to her studies and maintained the high professional ethics expected from OICB.  It was a pleasure to award Ellie this special prize said Erika Oswin, College Principal.  Thank you so much to Decleor and Dermalogica for their generous contribution in sponsoring this gift.

Retail Student of the Year Award 2014

Retail sales continue to play in important part in the financial success of most businesses and the ability to support treatments by offering clients the benefits of the therapists experience when deciding which product to buy is vital to the economy of every Salon and Spa. It was therefore a delight to present Amy Lewis from Oxford with ‘Retail Student of the Year Award 2014’.  Amy has achieved exceptional sales in Spa Find and Spa Ritual products in the Student Salon, taking this important part of our business very seriously.  Her advice, expertise and product knowledge all contributed to her success and choice as Retail Student of the Year. We would like to thank Spa Ritual and Sienna X for their generous contribution to this gift.

Evening Class Student of the Year

Anca Cancel from Romania was chosen for Evening Class Student of the Year for her enthusiasm, dedication and outstanding qualities which were evident from the very beginning of this NVQ Beauty Therapy Evening Course. Students on the evening class course always give more than 100% and put in every effort to achieve the highest achievements in treatment skills and professionalism.  Many have daytime employment, children or commitments to others but continue to reach our highest expectations.  Thank you to Spa Find for your generous gift.

Apprentice

Apprentices work full time in local salons and spas and attend college one day per week on day release. It is a challenging study option because these girls work late evenings, weekends and study as well. This year Jodie Noble was acknowledged for reaching high standards of treatment and professionalism and was presented with our ‘Apprentice of the Year Award 2014’.  Jodie’s gift was kindly sponsored by Jessica Nails.

Work Placements

It’s not all farewells as we continue to teach our CIBTAC students and our January intake who have all recently returned from a 2 week work placement.  The most popular spa this year was the Lifehouse Spa in Essex who took 4 of our students and introduced them to realisitic working environments in this busy 5* spa. Students also enjoyed visits to other spas such as Champneys Forest Mere in Hampshire, Dainsfield House, Wyck Hill House, The Potting Sheds, The Randolph and  salons in Oxford such as Canelle Beauty, Fit Kit Beauty. As ever we thank the and management and working therapists for spending the time with our students and helping them to learn and develop during this 2 week period. This is a unique opportunity that our full time students have as part of their course. We are very pleased that many of the students were offered future employment when they graduate in November.

The Summer sees all staff busy preparing for our new students joining in September. Recruiting new students is particularly busy in the Summer with lots of students enrolling in July and August excited to start learning for a rewarding future ahead.
