Work Experience Placements

We have much to report since our last newsletter. Our full time CIDESCO students have been on their work experience after Easter in a variety of locations and having a variety of different placements.

The feedback questionnaires that we have had from the salon/spa Managers have been an absolute pleasure for tutors to read. We had students enjoy placements all over the UK, such as at iiaa in London, Aromatherapy Associates in London, Malmaison in Bimingham, Champneys in Hampshire, Lucknam Park near Bath, Cowshed at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds, Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire. They gained a wealth of experience and majority were offered full time employment once they graduate at the end of June. Super excited for them!

We offer our thanks to all the amazing companies that welcomed our students for 2 weeks. Thank you for your continued loyalty and support to OICB students!

Career Preparation

Alongside this amazing work experience the students have had such inspiring careers talks and presentations by some of Beauty’s top employers including Steiner Spas on Cruise Ships, Soho House, Cowshed, Dermalogica, Ragdale Hall and Beauty Match. Sour students have some fantastic careers ahead of them!

The CIDESCO students have also enjoyed a Spa Trip to Thermae Bath Spa, where they enjoyed 2 hours of spa use in this wonderful, relaxing location and a careers presentation.

 

Professional Development

Our CIDESCO students benefit from a choice of professional training courses from leading companies as part of their full time course. They have recently enjoyed professional training from Jessica Nails in Manicure and Pedicure, Environ Facials, Dermalogica Skincare, Advanced Nutritional Program Supplements and Jane Iredale Makeup. We also offer optional extra courses such as Lava Shell Massage, Microdermabrasion, Sienna X Tanning, Airbase Airbrush Makeup and more, so this term has been action packed!

Our Microdermabrasion students also enjoyed a professional demonstration of the new Crystal Clear ‘COMCIT’ machine and saw Heidi having a micro-needling and oxygen facial! It’s great for students to see what’s new and to witness the latest treatments in the industry.

As well as careers advice for our current students we are also in the process of setting up the OICB Alumni for former graduates which will also include an offer of any career advice for some of our previous students. Please email Sarah on info@oicb.co.uk for more info on joining our Alumni.

 

CIBTAC exams

Our 19 CIBTAC students are busy preparing for their CIBTAC exams next week. Exam periods are a stressful time as CIBTAC expect them to reach high standards of theory and practical to pass their International exams. OICB students are always well prepared for exams and benefit from lots of practical exam run-throughs and theory test revision. We wish our students good luck and remind them if they need any help or advise with managing stress or revision, please contact Sarah in the office. Wishing all our students the best of luck in their exams and we are so looking forward to our Graduation Ball in June at Eynsham Hall to celebrate your success!
