Careers Talk from Industry expert Kim Fallon

Kim Fallon Business Consultant at Dermalogica visited us in December to give our students an inspirational talk about careers and the wide variety of opportunities in the beauty industry to OICB graduates.  Kim’s experience in the health and beauty industry is outstanding and the students enjoyed hearing about her own personal varied journey in the Health, Spa and Beauty world. Along with career tips, professional ethics, CV and Interview skills, Kim inspired our students with her zest for life and learning in the beauty industry.

Product training from Dermalogica

Our students enjoyed Dermalogica Training this January 2017 with one of our OICB graduates Becky Richardson. It was fantastic welcoming Becky back for the day to train our CIDESCO/CIBTAC students in Dermalogica and to hear about her fantastic career that has led her to be a trainer for Dermalogica. This highly successful professional product is supported by The Dermal Institutes experienced skin care team and gives anyone interested in advanced beauty treatments and products the chance to gain information, knowledge and insight into the largest organ of the body – the skin!  A certified course designed for the discerning therapist who realises the importance of skincare for all ages and skin types and wishes to become experienced in facial treatments.

Steiner Spas on Cruise Liners

The Hair and Beauty franchise Steiner run the spas on the most prestigious cruise liners around the world, visited our students to give a presentation and careers talk.  Lauren Hill from Steiner inspired students with stories of life as a beauty therapist on board some of the most luxurious cruise liners.  It is always exciting to invite members of the Steiner team to the Oxford International College of Beauty when they awaken our interest with stories, experiences and their vision of life on the oceans. With an invitation to go on board and see for ourselves the glamorous opportunities and to broaden horizons we are all looking forward to a planned visit when a suitable ship is in port.

Careers on Cruise Ships

Our OICB graduate Hitomi Oishi is now embarking on her second cruise on the ‘Radiance of the Seas’ one of the best Cruise Liners in the world. She was hugely successful on her first contract and we enjoyed seeing pictures of Hitomi travelling the world. Cruise liners are offering Hitomi the chance to travel and see the world and at the same time experience the benefits of a wonderful career in these floating Spas.  Life as a beauty therapist on board these giant sailing cities has to be the most exciting way to meet friends and see the world.

Careers and relaxation at Bath Thermae Spa

We are excited about our upcoming visit to the Thermae Spa in the spa town of Bath, one of our most enjoyable annual excursions and ‘escapes’ from college!  Staff and students enjoy the chance to experience the thermal waters of the pools and to use all the facilities on offer, this is always the highlight of our calendar. We are lucky to receive a careers talk from the spa to give our students an insight into the life of a spa therapist. With the beautiful surroundings and luxury roof-top pool, we are all excited to use the facilities and indulge in the luxurious surroundings for the day.
